Restorative Thai Bodywork (Lazy Man's Yoga)
Cost: $60 for 1 hour/$80 for 90 mins
Restorative Thai Bodywork is an ancient healing therapy combining assisted postures and touch technique to promote deep relaxation, improve circulation, boost the immune system, improve range of motion, reduce levels of stress, increase energy, relieve headaches, and balance body energy to facilitate mind-body integration and enhance one’s sense of alignment, posture and health. Relaxation combined with the energizing and invigorating effects of Thai Bodywork helps people feel mentally and physically restored.
The Thai Bodywork practitioner gently maneuvers and supports the client’s body at all times into a sequence of restorative postures while applying gentle therapeutic touch. These techniques help relieve the body of years of tension and stress by opening tight joints, lengthening muscles and providing a deep sense of well-being.
These sessions incorporate assisted stretches, positional release therapy, muscle energy technique, soft tissue manipulation and joint mobilization. Thai Bodywork begins to stretch and open the body while deeply relaxing the client. Flexibility is not required to receive the benefits; this work can be useful for all body types. Afterwards, clients tend to feel as if they have been given a new body, one that is more limber, open and more alive. It is a true full body tune-up.
For Restorative Thai Bodywork, the client lies on a massage mat placed on the floor. The practitioner will slowly work your body through various stretches, using their hands, knees, legs, and/or feet to help manipulate your body into different positions.
Restorative Thai Bodywork with Herbal Compresses
Cost: $80 for 1 hour/$120 for 90 mins
Fragrant pouches of earthy goodness, soft muslin fabrics, dim lights, the comfort of a Thai mat with infrared heated mat and the practitioners firm hands sweeping away the aches and pains… sigh!
A hot herbal pouch is made by wrapping specific herbs, spices and flowers in natural cloth like a “dumpling” and then steaming it to your preferred temperature (hot but bearable!).
The use of steam softens the compresses, releases the essential oils and intensifies the aroma.
Then, the compresses are used to massage all over your body, paying special attention to problem areas.
(*wear shorts and a tank top for your herbal compress session!)
Thai Bodywork with Trigger Point
Cost: $60 for 1 hour/$80 for 90 mins
(Recommended for clients with chronic pain issues.)
In Thai Bodywork the practitioner puts you through a series of stretches that cover the entire body. You lie on a floor mat and you wear loose-fitting clothing. Treatment protocols are based on the needs of the client to relieve muscle tension, restore pain-free movement, and range of motion, boost the metabolism and immune system, and improves circulation.
Thai Bodywork also includes deep-pressure point work to stimulate the sen, or the body’s energy pathways. Long considered a medical treatment in Thailand, Thai yoga is sometimes referred to as “lazy man’s yoga”.
* No experience of any kind is needed. I take a very simple, science-based approach.
